The CMS Charity Fund worked with the “Sun Shine in Your Heart Project” of Red Cross Society during the 5.12 WenChuan earthquake, Sichuan province in 2008. Having leant that most lives were lost in middle and primary schools, and even the students survived the earthquake suffering a lot from post-disaster psychological trauma, the donated 1.1 million RMB to “Sun Shine in Your Heart Project” to build 5 “Sun Shine in Your Heart” care centers in Hongda Middle School, Yingxiu Primary School, etc. Through this project, the fund donated books and held training sessions on a regular basis. Also, CMS Charity Fund sent psychological experts to talk with students and teachers on site, give psychological therapies. All these means helped the children to overcome the post-disaster fear and rebuild their faith towards life. By the end of October, 2008, all 5 care centers were completed. During October, 2008 to May, 2009, CMS Charity Fund donated 5 times to those care centers, with a total number of 5613 books, held 10 training sessions for 739 students and teachers; sent psychological experts to give therapy and tutoring for 18 times. After a whole year, the scars left by the quake remained fresh in some children’s hearts, and they lacked confidence in life and were swamped in the sorrows for the lost. Knowing that, CMS Charity Fund will keep caring for those in need in Sichuan province and will build five new care centers for middle and primary schools in Shifang City.
