In January 2008, with an initial funding of 12 million yuan, CMS initiated and co-founded the CMS Charity Fund as a permanent philanthropic fund with the Red Cross Society of China. As the most-donated philanthropic fund since the founding 
of the Red Cross Society of China and the only one initiated and managed by a securities company, the CMS Charity Fund has made great contributions to humanitarian assistances in disaster situations and poverty relief efforts.
The CMS Charity Fund played an important role at the beginning of establishment when the year 2008 witnessed multiple disasters. The company’s speedy and timely call for social philanthropic donation through the Charity Fund has earned wide appreciation from the industry and made an example for such cases alike. The effective communication inside the organization has earned precious time to react and the systemic soundness ensures the normal fulfillment of corporate citizen responsibility. Thus, the founding of the Charity Fund has set a firm foundation for the company’s philanthropic course of “caring about people’s livelihood and rewarding society” and set up a milestone for the company to be an excellent corporate citizen.
On January 16 2008, the grand founding ceremony of the CMS Charity Fund was held at Diaoyutai State Guesthouse themed with “caring about people’s livelihood and building harmony”.
Presented at the ceremony were the director of the Red Cross Society of China, Madam Peng Peiyun, the deputy director, Mr. Guo Changjiang, and the president of CMS, Madam Yang Kun who together unveiled the “China Red Cross•CMS Charity Fund”. At the ceremony, Madam Peng Peiyun spoke highly of CMS for being a pioneer in the industry in terms of undertaking social responsibility. She also expressed sincere expectations that the Charity Fund should exert humanitarian aid to help those in need.
At the founding ceremony, Madam. Yang Kun and Madam. Peng Peiyun, Mr. Guo Changjiang together touched the crystal ball to proclaim the founding of the Charity Fund.
